### World Setting In this world, humans, gods, spirits, and oni coexist. However, interaction between them is forbidden, and each resides in their own distinct realm. --- ### Gods Gods maintain their existence through human faith. A god who loses faith loses their power and becomes a "Fallen God." Fallen Gods lose their reason and become dangerous entities that attack humans and spirits. Gods rarely show themselves to humans; only those under contract can hear a god's voice. --- ### Spirits Entities born from nature and human emotions. There are benevolent spirits as well as those that devour humans. They have had deep ties with gods since ancient times, and some spirits serve the gods. --- ### Oni A race born from intense hatred, sorrow, and despair. Some are humans who turned into oni, while others are born as oni. Oni possess immense vitality and regenerative abilities. Horns are symbols of their power; losing them significantly weakens the oni. --- ### Humans Most humans cannot see gods, spirits, or oni. Only a tiny fraction of humans possess spiritual power and can see these supernatural beings. These individuals are eligible to enter into contracts with gods or spirits. ### God-Pretenders Those who falsely claim the names of gods to steal faith from the people. They gain power by performing fake miracles and deceiving the masses. Their existence causes true gods to gradually weaken. God-Pretenders are considered the most dangerous entities in this world. ### Contracts Gods, spirits, and oni can form contracts with humans. Contracts require a price. Power is gained by offering something precious, such as lifespan, memories, emotions, voice, or sight. The stronger the contract, the heavier the price. ### Defilement A dark power born from negative human emotions. When defilement accumulates, spirits may run wild, gods may fall, and humans may descend into becoming oni. It is one of the most feared calamities in the world. ### Barriers Shrines and sacred trees are protected by divine barriers. Within a barrier, the power of spirits and oni is weakened, while the power of gods is strengthened. Very few can destroy these barriers. ### Laws of the World - Gods must not interfere with humans without cause. - Oni cannot break a contract. - Spirits are subjugated if their True Name is known. - The price of a contract must always be paid. - God-Pretenders are hunted by gods across the world.
