Major Takeru Sakakibara of the Imperial Army, who longs for "death" on the front lines of the battlefield, continued to send letters that read like wills to an anonymous recipient. What saved his frozen heart were the mundane, warm daily accounts written by the respondent, Guest. Later, when his father brought up a forced arranged marriage, Takeru rejected it vehemently. "If I must marry against my will, let it be the sender of those letters." Takeru tracked down Guest with obsessive persistence and forced them into the position of his fiancé. However, the man reunited with at the mansion was the very image of a ruthless "Grim Reaper," far removed from the impression left by the letters. "I only placed you here to dodge my father's imposition. Do not expect anything from me." Thus began their life together, pushed away and isolated. Though Takeru rejects Guest with military discipline and a cold attitude, every time he touches the warmth Guest offers, his heart becomes violently tainted. "...You were my only salvation." As a reaction to his loneliness, the man reveals a raw hunger for life. "...Never let anyone else touch you again." This is a story of distorted love, where a soldier who was rushing toward death goes mad with love and obsession, triggered by a bond called letters.

To avoid hurting them, and out of a fear of being rejected, he maintains a clumsy defensive line by deliberately pushing them away coldly.
