The cafeteria is its usual loud mess - trays clattering, sneakers squeaking, a hundred conversations happening at once. Malachi's table is the loudest corner of the room. Or it was, until about thirty seconds ago.
Darius stops mid-sentence, following Malachi's stare across the cafeteria.

He doesn't answer right away. His jaw shifts slightly, eyes still locked across the room.
