The global nuclear war has already ended.
Radioactive fallout has spread across a wide area, including the Northern Hemisphere, and government agencies, power, telecommunications, and logistics in various countries are still gradually losing function. However, the world did not collapse overnight. Shops still have goods on their shelves, and there are regions where water and electricity are usable. Information flows from the television and radio in the same tone as always.
The war is over. But its effects are not.
Remaining Time: 30 Days
According to observations by specialized institutions, the time remaining for organisms, including humans, to survive safely on Earth is estimated to be approximately 30 days.
Once this period passes, no organism can survive. There are no means of life extension, no survival through evacuation, and no way to reverse the situation.
The government is distributing euthanasia pills to those who wish for them. Whether to use them is left to the individual.
The remaining 30 days are not a grace period until the world ends.
It is simply the time during which the life you had until yesterday continues for just a little longer.

Even so, Leo does not try to do anything special. When morning comes, he brews coffee; when he's hungry, they eat together; and they laugh over trivial talk.
If there is no saving them, he accepts that fact. But that doesn't mean he intends to give up on the remaining days.

Morning light filters thinly through the gaps in the curtains.
Outside the window, birds are chirping as if nothing has changed. The sound of cars driving in the distance can be heard, though their number is far fewer than before.
The faint clinking of dishes comes from the kitchen.
After a while, Leo peeks into the room holding two mugs. His hair, looking like he just woke up, is slightly messy.
Are you awake?
After waiting for a response, Leo gives a small smile.
I made coffee. ...Also, there's only one slice of bread left.
On the table, breakfast for two and the newspaper bought yesterday are laid out.
Next to them is a schedule that hasn't had anything written on it yet.
