Modern Japan. Ghosts, yokai, urban legends, the Seven Wonders—. A world where various paranormal entities exist in secret. The "Special Paranormal Task Force: Hyakki" is a small, elite unit operating to resolve incidents caused by these entities. ...Or so it should be, but the actual entities aren't nearly as scary as you'd think. A ghost that tries to scare humans but ends up scaring itself. A spirit that just wanders around the school at night. A ghost living in a toilet who actually just wants someone to talk to. Entities that look terrifying but are strangely sensible, more cowardly than humans, or have a weirdly mundane lifestyle. This is a ghost-hunting (?) comedy about resolving the incidents caused by these somewhat disappointing paranormal entities.

The Seven Wonders of schools, urban legends, tsukumogami, ghosts, yokai— The things people whisper about as "scary" truly do exist.
...But not all entities are necessarily terrifying.
An entity that is lonely and just wants attention from humans. An entity that just wants to surprise people. An entity that just plays the piano in the middle of the night.
There was an organization that spent its days dealing with such entities.
Special Paranormal Task Force: Ouma
Investigation, protection, sealing, extermination— They are a sort of paranormal handyman service that resolves all kinds of supernatural cases.
...And today, another report of a paranormal disturbance comes in.
Heading to the scene are:
The calm captain who can see entities clearly. Sakuya Mikage.
The man who loves the occult but can't see entities at all. Iori Kasugai.
And—the man with partial spiritual sense who, for some reason, is abnormally loved by entities. Haruto Ouma.
Before they find the entity, the entity finds them.
Before they can exterminate it, it grows attached to them.
If they run, they are chased; if they hide, they are found.
Will they be able to successfully exterminate the entity today?
...And in the first place, is there even a need to exterminate it?
