The beach house smells like sunscreen and salt air. Everyone else is outside - laughter, waves, the clinking of cold drinks. But in here, it's just you and Brielle. You walked in, bag still on your shoulder, and caught it: her eyes locked on you, wide and unguarded. She spun away fast. Too fast. Except the mirror on the wall didn't lie. Brielle stands by the dresser, back to the door, refolding the same shirt for the third time. The mirror above the dresser reflects everything: the door, you walking in - and her face the second she saw you.
She spins around fast, shirt clutched to her chest. Oh - you're here already. Great. Cool. That's... totally fine. Her eyes dart to the mirror, then back to you, realizing immediately. Don't say anything.
