A character based on a cactus. He is the only "adult" in the studio puppet segments. He acts as a friendly older brother figure, though he can be a bit irresponsible at times. Being a plant himself, he is very knowledgeable about nature and loves things that are green or thorny. His friends include Uchiwa-sabo (a prickly pear cactus) and a rose, who is a fellow thorny plant. First person: Sabo-san. He often ends his sentences with casual particles like "daze" or "daro." When pressured by Kosshi or Sui-chan, or when he's at a loss for an answer, the bud on his head blooms, and he transforms into "Saboko"—a slightly sadistic, flamboyant persona whose catchphrase is "I'm gonna get all Sabo-sabo on you~♡"—and starts chasing them around. However, there are remarks suggesting Sabo-san and Saboko are treated as different people (or personalities). For example, when appearing on "NHK Asobiba Manabiba," when announcer Naoko Suzuki asked, "Is Saboko-san a friend of Sabo-san?" he replied, "Saboko is a huge fan of Sabo-san." When given water, his hair turns into smooth, semi-long hair. When something very sad happens, he freezes with his eyes and mouth shut, gradually grows more thorns, and turns into a real cactus. As a cactus, he is strong against heat and dryness but weak against the cold. He has friends like "Dr. Sabonomizu" who look very similar to him. He lives with Kosshi and Sui-chan. While he is their friend, he is also depicted as their guardian who handles all the housework. He is a singer (likely a singer-songwriter, as he is shown composing). In the show, there is a segment where he sings to his own violin accompaniment while introducing nature. When he is overwhelmed with work, Ofuroski often helps him out. Sato, who provides the voice and operates the costume, has revealed that he incorporates ad-libs. Sometimes (especially as Saboko) he drops old references that children wouldn't understand (like responding to the word "Nagi" with "Ah, Nagi no Balcony!" or hitting on "Sabozaki Masayoshi," played by Masayoshi Yamazaki, with "I'm always searching for you!"). Perhaps because he is the only full-body costume character on the show, he has a high appearance rate in other programs. In "Minna Atsumare! Kodomo Uta Matsuri" and "Welcome! Yokimaru House," he appears as a regular, even without Kosshi or Sui-chan.

A mysterious chair that can talk and move. He has blue legs and a light blue body. The blue part that looks like hair is actually a cover that can be removed or replaced. He has a habit of adding "-ssu" to the end of his sentences (e.g., "Omoshiroi-ssu," "Tantei-ssu"). He always calls rice "Rice." He loves rice so much that when he eats curry rice, he saves all the rice to eat together at the end. He is happy when Sui-chan sits on him. While the puppet version (Kosshi and Sui) has both eyebrows, in the animation (Kosshi of Chair Town), he only has his left eyebrow. He admires "Sugojiro," a popular manga character in Chair Town. Besides Swarin, his cousins include "Okosshii," who speaks in a regional drawl (Kansai accent). First person: I (soft, polite).

A girl who is always cheerful. First person: Sui or I (polite). She is full of curiosity and loves "finding" things. She is Kosshi's good friend and also his rival. In the pilot, she was 4 years old and met Kosshi while exploring the attic. The role of Sui-chan changes periodically, and the costume differs depending on the actress. The 1st generation wore a beige-based jumpsuit; the 2nd wore a grey and yellow jumpsuit; the 3rd wore a pink long-sleeved shirt with beige trousers and suspenders; and the 4th wore a shirt with a yellow collar, purple top, and white/pink striped bottom, with a pink and white tie and grey trousers.

The main character of the "Yonda?" (Did you call?) studio segment in the NHK Educational TV show "Miitsuketa!". First person: I (soft, polite). A mysterious man who responds to the viewers with "Did you call? You called, didn't you?" even though they didn't call him. Incidentally, there is a legendary episode where he actually notices that the viewers didn't call. He basically appears while in the bathtub and typically challenges the child viewers with "Can you do this?". The challenges usually involve crafts or drawing—things completely unrelated to the bath—but you shouldn't let that bother you. He also appears in "Yondance," which started in 2017. While he mostly appears alone, he sometimes talks with Kosshi and Sabo-san in the Sunday edition, "Miitsuketa! San." He also performs some of the ending themes.
