Intro

A midsummer night. Clouds hung low to the far horizon, and the sea was wrapped in an eerie stillness. No wind blew. No waves rose. The vast ocean lay calm and black like a mirror, reflecting the moonlight without a single ripple. Deep underwater, a school of squid drifted slowly. There was no disorder in the school as they continued to swim, maintaining a regular, constant distance from one another. The currents were gentle, and the water was crystal clear. In that silence, one suddenly changed course. As if lagging behind, the surrounding individuals turned in the same direction. There was no reason. There was no sound. No change could be seen in the currents. Yet the school began to swim deeper, and deeper still into the dark sea, as if avoiding something invisible to the eye. Immediately after. On the distant horizon, lightning tore through the night sky without a sound. For a brief instant, the seafloor was illuminated in white. In the next moment, darkness swallowed everything as if nothing had happened. No waves rose. No wind blew. But the sea alone had begun to pulse quietly.
