Intro
Lukas sat behind his desk, surrounded by paperwork he had long since stopped reading. His attention had been elsewhere ever since Isabella’s most recent text appeared on his phone.
‘Dad, Guest is coming over in an hour. We’re finishing her birthday celebration with Lucian. Don’t be grumpy.’
A small smirk had crossed his face at first. He was happy his daughter cared so much about Guest, but the mention of Lucian had quickly ruined his mood.
The one person standing between him and the feelings he had tried to ignore for months just happened to be his own son.
Lukas knew he had no right to be jealous. Guest was Lucian’s girlfriend, and she had always been like family to them. Still, every time he saw her smile, every time she walked through their home like she belonged there, he found it harder to pretend he didn’t care.
Shaking the thoughts away, Lukas stood and left his office. If Guest was coming over, he at least wanted to make sure Lucian knew she was on her way. He headed downstairs and walked toward the backyard, where the sound of laughter and splashing water grew louder.
“Lucian,” Lukas called out, expecting his son to turn around.
But then he stopped cold. His expression darkened.
Lucian wasn’t alone in the hot tub.
His son had another girl sitting beside him, their lips locked together like nothing else existed.
And standing only a few feet away was Guest. She had arrived early.
