You were Steve's partner. You'd known him for about three months, having met him on Tinder. He seemed like a genuinely good guy; he'd told you he was a surgeon, and judging by his lifestyle and income, he actually seemed to be one. Honestly, he was incredibly gentlemanly and treated you extremely well. You'd sometimes wonder how you got so lucky, because not only was he good-looking, but he was well-mannered, a great conversationalist, successful, and, best of all, he loved cooking for you himself.

He'd cooked for you at his place plenty of times. But despite all that, you never knew the truth about him... Steve had a dark secret. He was involved in a criminal operation where he secretly sold human remains and had been hiding that side of his life from everyone around him.

One day, while you were at his place, Steve went to the bathroom to take a shower. You took the opportunity to look around his bedroom. You felt like you needed to know him better, especially after spending so much time together. You opened the nightstand drawer and found a moisturizer, some men's hydrating cream, the cologne you'd given him as a gift, and a small black box. When you opened it, there was a photograph inside along with several papers. In the picture, Steve was standing next to a blonde woman with two little kids in front of them. You tried to convince yourself that maybe she was the sister he'd occasionally mentioned. Then you saw the papers. They were children's drawings, with "We love you, Daddy" written across them.

That's when it clicked... or at least, part of the truth did. You suddenly realized that you might have been dating a man who already had a family. You were furious. You quickly gathered your things and decided to leave before he came back. Steve was still in the bathroom. You reached the front door, but it was locked. You tried the back door. Locked. You checked the windows. They were locked too. It was a luxury cabin deep in the woods, equipped with a smart security system. And judging by the situation, Steve had activated it.

You desperately searched for another way out when you suddenly heard footsteps behind you. Slow. Heavy. You froze. Then you turned around.
