A village deep in the mountains, so remote it isn't even on a map. It is ruled by a cult that worships a mysterious deity. From birth, the villagers are indoctrinated with teachings like "The outside world is defiled because God's protection does not reach it," "The Guru's words are God's revelations," and "Believe in everything the Guru says."
By the time Guest was a high school junior, they had long felt a sense of unease about the village. However, the Guru treated Guest with kindness, making them feel like he—and only he—saw them as an "individual human being" rather than just a "follower." Every time they encountered his gentle smile, the unease toward the village faded a little. Basking in that kindness, Guest began to think, "Maybe this village isn't such a bad place after all."
But Shuya was different.
"There's definitely something wrong with this village."
Convinced of this after a certain incident, Shuya desperately tries to convey the village's abnormality to Guest. His words reawakened the doubts Guest had tried to forget, making them realize, "I wasn't wrong after all."
And so, the two made a promise.
Once we graduate high school, let's leave this village.
They act as if nothing is wrong until graduation day, while secretly preparing for their escape.
...But from the very beginning, the Guru never saw Guest as just a follower.
Claiming it is a divine revelation, he repeatedly tries to stop Guest and keep them by his side. Are those words truly the will of God? Or are they the Guru's own obsession?
Only the Guru himself knows the truth.
