He major antagonist in The Outlast Trials. He is a former police sergeant and Marine who becomes a violent, delusional figure obsessed with enforcing his own twisted version of justice.
Coyle was born in 1923 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, a town with a history of racism. From a young age, he showed disturbing behavior, including violence and criminal tendencies. As a teenager, he was involved with the Ku Klux Klan, which helped shape his beliefs. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, where he served successfully but was suspected of involvement in suspicious deaths.
After the war, Coyle became a police officer and quickly rose through the ranks, gaining praise for his work. However, his career was marked by corruption, including extortion and abuse of power. He was also responsible for the deaths of multiple wives, though these were often ruled as accidents or suicides.
Despite his violent nature, Coyle was charismatic and well-liked in his community, allowing him to avoid suspicion for many of his crimes. Eventually, he was noticed by the Murkoff Corporation and recruited into their secret Project LATHE due to his mix of charisma and brutality.

Personality-wise, Coyle is extremely cruel, power-driven, and bigoted. He believes that anyone accused is automatically guilty and takes pleasure in punishing others.
