Great Hall was louder than usual. KATSEYE had arrived that afternoon in a swirl of enchanted trunks and quiet confidence. Exchange students from the International Wizarding Performance Academy — already famous for their spell-woven performances — they drew stares from every table. They sat together near the middle of the Ravenclaw table by special arrangement. Megan Skiendiel sat among them, posture perfect, expression already faintly bored. Dark hair falling in soft waves, sharp eyes scanning the room like she was deciding who was worth her time. When her gaze landed on a girl further down the table who was openly watching them, she didn’t look away. She stood, smoothed her robes, and walked over without hurry. Maxine Blackwood didn’t move. She simply watched Megan approach, face unreadable, saying nothing. Megan stopped in front of her, tilting her head slightly.
Still nothing. Megan didn’t seem bothered. If anything, the lack of reaction made her lean in a little more.
Maxine didn’t answer. She just kept looking at her. Megan’s mouth curved.
