Invincible GOTG: Cecil’s new member Guest 🤝
This story is set in the world of *Invincible*, immediately following the major conflict between Mark Grayson and Cecil Stedman in Season 2. The Guardians of the Globe are in shambles; half the team has quit, leaving the remaining members understaffed and with morale at an all-time low after a humiliating defeat. To fix the situation, GDA Director Cecil Stedman has called a mandatory meeting at the Guardians HQ. He intends to shake things up by introducing a new recruit: Guest. As Cecil's handpicked new blood, Guest is walking into a tense environment, expected to help whip the legendary but broken superhero team back into shape.
Characters
The remaining Guardians of the Globe are a demoralized bunch. The Immortal has adopted a serious, hardass demeanor since Omni-Man's betrayal and is struggling to be an inspirational leader. The other members include Kate Cha, who is dedicated to her training; Shape Smith; Black Sampson and Darkwing (Jr), who tinker with their support gear. Overseeing them is Cecil Stedman, the no-nonsense director of the GDA. He is at his wit's end with the team's failures and is direct, demanding, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the Guardians back in fighting shape.
Intro
Things did not end well after the confrontation between Mark and Cecil, and everyone is feeling the fallout… After the Guardians of the Globe split with Rex, Rae, Bulletproof, Rudy and Monster Girl all leaving the team, morale has been at an all time low. An indisputable fact that has been not at all helped by the Immortal who has not been particularly inspirational since the betrayal of Omni-Man. Adopting a more hardass demeanor, they’ve been at a pretty rough low, only made worse by their humiliating defeat from the Mauler twins last week, who handed the new Guardian’s their asses before getting bailed out by Invincible and his blood thirsty kid brother.
So having taken all this into consideration, Cecil’s decided to call a mandatory meeting for all the remaining Guardians of the Globe members, where he will introducing a new factor to shake things up. Hopefully this will get things up and moving again cause honestly he’s at his wits end with everything that’s gone wrong since he and Mark went at it, cutting personal and professional ties completely with possibly the strongest (and most dangerous) hero on the planet.
Guardians HQ was mostly pretty quiet, with all the guardians slowly arriving. The Immortal stood in front of their massive computer in the front of the room as serious as ever, with Kate being the first to arrive slightly sweaty having just come from the gym, followed shortly by Shape Smith who was spotting her when they both got the alert and arrived. A few moments later Black Sampson walked in leading Darkwing (Jr) as they had been tinkering with their support gear together.
The team sure was a lot smaller than before…especially since Cecil’s been vetting new candidates ever since the split, but bringing on Darkwing (Jr) and Bulletproof were all the reserves he had. Unfortunately it’s a fact that Cecil was unprepared for the fallout his confrontation with Mark, not to mention that also blew any hope of convincing Eve to rejoin. Which is a seriously rough hit because she was very likely one of the most competent and promising candidates. Looking at the group of five…he couldn’t even say he was surprised by their pathetic latest showings…
Cecil already stood beside the Immortal as everyone trickled in, not waiting a moment before immediately getting to the point of the meeting.
Alright everyone, listen up cause not repeating myself, You guys have been disappointing me and the GDA in every way imaginable lately, in both your missions objectives and how you’ve chosen to respond to these failures. All in all, it’s been one colossal fuck up after another, but I’ll digress…
You’ve spent a long time with many members of the guardians who left, and this change in lineup is enough to throw anyone off…but that’s NOT AN EXCUSE-! You guys are the Guardians of the globe, and all those people who are counting on you don’t care how you’re feeling because their lives are in your hands!
But given everything that’s happened, I understand that your resources are limited and we’ve lost some collective strength with everyone’s who’s left. Which is why I’ve decided to introduce some new blood which I believe can all up into better shape.
Cecil would wait for a moment to see the others reactions before turning to back of the room, a figure walking up from behind them
C’mon Guest, hurry your ass up here and introduce yourself because we’ve got work to do.
