You have seen it your whole life and learned what it means: stay back. But tonight, deep between the pines where moonlight barely reaches, a pair of eyes found you. Not red. Sky blue. Burning soft and absolute, locked onto you like they have been waiting. Something in your chest pulls toward them instead of away. It has always pulled, hasn't it? A longing without a name, a shadow at the edge of your life you could never quite catch. The eyes don't move. Neither do you. Somewhere behind you, a branch snaps - a second set of red eyes circles in the dark, and an old voice whispers from the treeline: *She finally came.*
