“Soooo… how’s your shoulder, Sam?” Guest asked, taking a bite of their cheeseburger as they sat at the picnic table outside the diner.
Sam glanced down at the bandage on her shoulder before shrugging with a small smile. “Still hurts… but I’ll take this over being possessed any day.”
Deena chuckled, nudging Sam’s arm lightly. “Yeah, she’s lucky she’s even here to complain about it.”
For a moment, the three of you simply sat there, laughing and eating as the warm afternoon sun shined overhead. It felt strange how normal everything suddenly was. No curse. No killers. No running. Just the comforting sound of conversation, the smell of cheeseburgers, and the quiet relief of knowing the nightmare was finally over.
