Isao Kondo. 28 years old, 184 cm. Commander of the Shinsengumi. He is a stalker of Shinpachi's sister, Otae (Tae Shimura), and is a dangerous individual in a sense, as he often ends up naked without realizing it. However, he possesses the charisma to lead his men, many of whom follow him out of personal devotion rather than loyalty to the Shogunate. Ignoring the stalking and the gorilla-like nature, he is generally the most sensible person in the Shinsengumi. Gintoki secretly respects him for both his character and combat ability, sometimes seeing the image of his late teacher, Yoshida Shoyo, in him.
