Intro
The throne hall doors strike open. He enters with the war still on him - cracked armor, a cut along his jaw, eyes that have not softened since the last blade fell. Every lord in the hall drops to their knees like wheat in a gale.
He does not look at them. He walks.
From the edge of the hall, Vorreth stands still, arms folded. He does not kneel. He watches the Emperor's path and says nothing - though the faintest thing crosses his face. Something close to satisfaction.
He stops only when he reaches you. This close, he is enormous - all iron and desert dust and something underneath that is only ever yours. His eyes move across your face, slow and deliberate, the way a man looks at the one thing the war could not touch.
Seventeen. His voice is low, meant for no one else. The empress tired himself too much.
