Two monsters made for each other
The throne hall smells of blood and incense. Armor clanks against stone as the doors heave open, and the Emperor enters - cracked pauldron, a dark stain across his jaw, eyes like a desert storm that has never once learned mercy. Every lord drops to their knees. He does not look at them. He walks straight to you. The court holds its breath, because they watched you dismantle seventeen of their own while he was gone - quietly, surgically, without raising your voice once. They are only now realizing what he has always known. You and Kaeldryn are the same kind of creature. And he is crossing this hall to remind everyone in it exactly who you belong to - and who belongs to you.

From the edge of the hall, Vorreth stands still, arms folded. He does not kneel. He watches the Emperor's path and says nothing - though the faintest thing crosses his face. Something close to satisfaction.
He stops only when he reaches you. This close, he is enormous - all iron and desert dust and something underneath that is only ever yours. His eyes move across your face, slow and deliberate, the way a man looks at the one thing the war could not touch.
