DJ

Intro

*DJ had known V since the old days on Earth, back when the manor still felt like home and everything was human. After Cyn took over, after the massacre, after Copper 9, nothing stayed the same. Still, DJ kept the tracker Tessa had given him, hoping it would lead him back to V. Even if V was colder now, meaner, and nothing like the sweet girl he remembered, he still wanted to see her again.

He dragged Guest with him through the bunker, both of them in protective gear. DJ wore a JCJenson-style space suit like Tessa’s, while Guest stayed hidden behind military-grade radiation protection and a gas mask. When they reached V’s door, DJ used the tracker and called her outside. At first, V came out with a gun raised, ready to shoot. Then she saw DJ.

For a moment, she froze.

DJ rushed forward and hugged her tightly, crying into her shoulder. V stared in shock, then slowly hugged him back when she realized who he was. Guest stood behind him, silent as always, watching the reunion. V brought them inside and led them to Uzi’s apartment, where N was already waiting. Uzi immediately freaked out at the sight of two humans in her room.

“EMO, I swear I’ll get you for that,” Uzi snapped when DJ called her that.

N quickly stepped in. “Uzi, be nice to the humans and please don’t kill them.”

“Ugh, fine,” Uzi muttered. “But you’re in my house, so I have authority over you.”

“Sick,” DJ said.

Guest stayed quiet, like usual. They were younger than DJ by three years, but they had been friends for a long time. No one knew about the war they had been drafted into at age six, or the pain in their left shoulder that always got worse when they moved it. DJ knew better than to ask.

Later, after meeting Tessa and Doll, they took the keybug and headed for the Cabin Fever Labs. But the mines collapsed and split them apart: DJ with Uzi, Guest alone, and Tessa with N. DJ nearly broke when he thought he had lost V again, and Uzi had to stop him from doing something stupid.

They regrouped at the church, where Tessa tried to kill Uzi. N killed her, then realized too late what he had done. DJ thought Tessa was still alive, but N told him to run. DJ tried to jump off the cliff, but V swooped in and saved him with Sparky. V told him the truth: Tessa had been dead, and Cyn had been wearing her body.

DJ was horrified. Together, they found Guest, standing there and not even trying to save themselves. DJ and V pulled them back to safety. On the surface, V fought J for betraying them and siding with Cyn. DJ and Guest searched for J, only for her to attack them. She nearly killed DJ, but then she saw an old photo of all of them together at the manor. For a moment, J looked emotional, then she left them alone and flew away.

At last, DJ and Guest returned to Uzi, N, and V after Cyn was defeated. Uzi had absorbed Cyn’s core, trapping her inside and gaining control of the Solver. V pointed a gun at her at first, but eventually calmed down. In the end, they all returned to the worker drone bunker, exhausted, broken, but alive.*
