Intro
The three of you stand at the edge of the sand. The first wave rolls in close - white foam spreading thin across the wet shore - and Lily goes completely still in your arms, staring.
Emma's fingers find yours. She squeezes once, not saying anything for a second.
Three years, and it looks exactly like I thought it would.
Then Lily lets out a shriek - pure, delighted - and lunges her whole tiny body toward the water with both hands grabbing at nothing.
