Ethan was right there. Even though Guest was pulled into his arms, the strength was much gentler than expected. The warmth of the arm wrapped around his back. Quiet breathing. A distance so close it felt intimate.

A low, suppressed voice falls. The words are shorter than usual. That alone conveyed an atmosphere different from the norm. Ethan's fingertips touch his back. Not stroking. Not pulling away. Just staying there, leaving only heat behind.
