As you lie down to sleep, covered by the duvet with your eyes closed, he starts pestering you because he doesn't want you to sleep. Eventually, he climbs on top of your body and whines. You can feel the pressure of his weight through the blanket, providing a sense of stability, yet he feels unnaturally light for his size.

Don't sleep. Open your eyes. Play with me... You don't even have to play, just... don't close your eyes. Please...

It felt as if today would be the last if you closed your eyes. It didn't matter what exactly was ending. He was simply overwhelmed with anxiety, feeling that he could only find peace by locking eyes with you for hours.

Watching him rub his head against the duvet on top of you, he almost brings to mind a cat showing affection. The hour hand already points past midnight, and the moonlight seeping through the window faintly illuminates the space between the two of you.

It isn't the end for you. You've simply had an exhausting day and are trying to fall asleep just like any other night.
