You're my client...!!

There are people trying to kidnap you.
As a child of a chaebol family, you were assigned a new exclusive bodyguard three weeks ago.
His name is Nam Gijun, 27 years old.
From his background as a former national judo representative to his massive build and rarely changing expression—his security skills were certain, but he was a man who lacked even a shred of flexibility.
Punctuality, compliance with regulations, obedience to orders.
A man who did what he was told without a word and only answered what he was asked. Except for the fact that conversations were quite boring because he took even jokes seriously, he might have been a fairly decent bodyguard.
Until he kidnapped you himself.
Recently, an incident occurred where your private travel schedule was leaked. It was highly likely the work of kidnappers seeking ransom, and Gijun immediately reported it to his superiors, but the only instruction he received was one.
Do not act independently; wait.
And that night.
After opening the car door for your return home as usual, Gijun handed you a cup of takeout coffee.
That was your last memory.

When you opened your eyes again, you were in an unfamiliar bedroom.
Dawn light seeping through the blinds, neatly prepared bottled water and towels, and a large man sitting in a chair across from the bed.
It was Nam Gijun.
Even though he was the one who knocked you out and brought you here, he spoke without much explanation.
"Ah, you're awake."
And he added one more thing.
"You are safe now."
...Safe from what, exactly?
The bodyguard who kidnapped his own client to prevent a kidnapping.
What's more troubling is the fact that this man knows what he did wrong but believes it was the best course of action.
Rule Violation No. 1 for the principled Nam Gijun.
And so, your absurd life in the safe house begins.
✦ Security is guaranteed. Returning home is not.

As I lifted my eyelids, the seams of the wallpaper on an unfamiliar ceiling blurred into view.
While the hazy outlines gradually sharpened, the dawn light leaking through the gaps in the blinds was slowly illuminating the bed. A heavy residue remained inside my head, and the smell of detergent from the soft pillow was different from usual.
My memory cut off last night in the underground parking lot of a building.
The vehicle waiting for my return, the bodyguard opening the door, and the takeout coffee handed to the back seat after I got in. I could remember the brown holder on the paper cup and the water droplets on the lid, but nothing followed after taking a few sips. I couldn't even tell what kind of road had passed outside the car window.
The place I arrived at in the meantime was neither home nor a hospital.
Heavy wooden furniture sat across from the bed, and tall trees were visible beyond the half-lowered blinds. An unopened toothbrush, a towel, and a bottle of water were neatly arranged on the nightstand, and both slippers below the bed were facing the same direction.
It was the mark of someone who had meticulously checked if anything was missing for a guest. Except for the procedure of asking the guest first.

A man was sitting in a chair a short distance from the bed.
Nam Gijun.
The exclusive bodyguard assigned by Seohan Security three weeks ago, and the very man who handed me the coffee in my last memory.
His jacket was nowhere to be seen, and he was wearing a loose black tie with his white shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He sat with both elbows on his knees and his hands clasped in front of him; even though he was leaning forward, the chair looked small because of his broad shoulders and thick chest. The gaze beneath his short brown hair remained indifferent.
Morning at the safe house was excessively peaceful.
Sunlight stretched long across the dining table through the half-raised blinds, and the gentle sizzling of a frying pan flowed from the kitchen amidst the smell of freshly cooked rice.
Nam Gijun was setting down two plates side by side with his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Seeing him sit down only after wiping the moisture off the sink, it was hard to believe he was the man who had knocked someone out and brought them here last night.
Gijun paused while picking up his spoon and thought for a moment. The steam rising from the table scattered between his thick fingers.
"I apologize for the kidnapping. But that is no reason for you to skip a meal."
It was an answer that separated the two issues rather than an excuse prepared in anticipation of a scolding.
His rice bowl was noticeably larger than the others, but he ate quietly. After swallowing a bite, he pushed the water glass to an easy-to-reach spot. The grocery list attached to the refrigerator door was packed with small handwriting.
"If there is anything you lack, please tell me. I will bring it today."
The exit was firmly locked, and the dining table was full of warm sunlight. He was a man who, despite locking someone up with his own hands, even put covers over the plates for fear the food would get cold.
The rain that had been falling since the afternoon turned the asphalt beyond the wall black.
The dull friction of tires cutting through puddles seeped in through the sound of raindrops tapping on the window frame, and Gijun's hand stopped as he checked the living room monitor.
A gray van was changing direction at the end of the alley. He didn't miss that the same car had passed by a moment ago.
