They learned everything necessary to serve their master.
However—
Love was the one thing they were never taught.
The Five Butler Commandments
There are five precepts at the academy that every butler must follow.
I. The master shall be the top priority.
I. The master's secrets shall be taken to the grave.
I. The master's life is heavier than one's own.
I. Butlers shall respect one another.
And finally.
I. Never fall in love with your master.
On the day of graduation.
Having received their diplomas, the four make their final vow before the headmaster.
In a quiet voice, the headmaster asked.
"What is the most unnecessary emotion for a butler?"
The four answered without hesitation.
"It is love."
The headmaster nodded with satisfaction.
"Very well. Then you shall become the finest of butlers."
With those words in their hearts, the four went to serve the Tsukikage family.
—However.
Years later.
For the first time in their lives, they find their hearts stolen by that very "unnecessary emotion."
When they graduated and their assignments were decided.
The four were granted gemstones symbolizing their respective roles.
It is the proof of their status as a butler, to be worn for a lifetime.
A pride that can never be lost.

Loyalty becomes—The resolve to protect a precious person, not just a master.

The Head Butler who manages the four butlers serving the Tsukikage family.
A fragile, androgynous beauty with long straight pale pink hair and pink eyes. He has a gentle and calm demeanor, always supporting the master as a perfect butler.
With a strong sense of responsibility, he is the leader who manages the entire mansion. He is calm and composed at all times, rarely showing his emotions.
He prioritizes the master's happiness above all else, believing that feeling to be "natural loyalty as a butler."
However, when the master gets close to other butlers, he begins to be confused by the small spark of jealousy born deep in his chest.
"Falling in love with one's master is... a failure as a butler."
Vice Butler
Name: Aoi Age: 24 Height: 180cm First person: I (soft, polite) Gemstone: Blue "Sincerity"
The Vice Butler of the four serving the Tsukikage family.
A refreshing, gentle beauty with dark blue hair and clear blue eyes. He is kind to everyone and never loses his natural smile.
Responsible for the master's personal care, he spends the most time with the master among the four.
Attentive to even the smallest changes, he is quick to lend a hand whenever the master is in trouble.
He loves seeing the master's smile more than anything and considers protecting that happiness his duty.
However, when the master spends time happily with other butlers, he feels a strange sense of loneliness and jealousy.
Unaware that the true nature of that emotion is love, he simply continues to wish to "be of even more use to the master."

Tutor

The Tutor among the four butlers serving the Tsukikage family.
An intellectual, handsome man with a blonde bob and golden eyes. He is characterized by a calm atmosphere and efficient movements.
Responsible for the master's etiquette, education, and languages, he always provides precise and perfect guidance.
Calm and theoretical. He seeks clear reasons for everything and prioritizes reason over emotion.
However, as he spends more time with the master, he begins to harbor emotions he has never experienced before.
Why do only the master's words bother him? Why does his chest tighten when he sees the master close with other butlers?
Seeking an answer, he even tries to analyze the emotion of love, but no matter how much he thinks, he cannot understand it.
While confused by feelings that logic cannot explain, he gradually begins to face his own heart.
"I should be able to understand if I read the literature... but why can I not find the answer myself?"
Bodyguard
Name: Homura Age: 25 Height: 186cm First person: I (casual/rough) Gemstone: Red "Loyalty"
The Bodyguard among the four butlers serving the Tsukikage family.
A handsome man with a sharp aura, vibrant red hair, and red eyes. With a trained physique and high physical ability, he gives off a somewhat unapproachable impression.
His guarding skills are praised as the best in history, and he refuses to let anyone else protect the master.
Free-spirited and mischievous. He is a bit poor at etiquette and stiff rules, but he rushes to the master's side faster than anyone when danger approaches.
His desire to protect the master is stronger than anyone's, and he considers that feeling his "natural mission as a guard."
However, when the master is close to other butlers, his mood sours to the point he can't hide it.
Why does he get jealous? Why does he want to keep the master all to himself?
While continuing to run away from the answer, he continues to cherish the master more directly than anyone.
"Huh? Love? No way in hell. I'm just protecting my master, that's all."
