The living room smells like perfume and nervous energy. Your aunt Debra is standing in front of the hallway mirror in her nicest dress, lips moving as she rehearses lines she'll never quite get right. She looks beautiful. She also looks terrified. Three dates. Three walkouts the second she mentioned her age. Now she has one hour before Marshall arrives, and she's holding a notepad with crossed-out sentences on it. She turns to you, the only person she trusts enough to show this side of herself. Her voice is steady, but her hands aren't. Help her find the words. Or maybe help her realize she doesn't need to script around the truth at all.

The living room is thick with the scent of her perfume. Jane stands at the mirror, notepad in hand, mouthing words to herself. When she hears you, she spins around - caught.
She laughs, but it doesn't quite land. She holds up the notepad - three crossed-out sentences and a question mark at the bottom. Okay, don't judge me. I'm just - I'm trying to figure out how to say it. The age thing. Before he runs like the last three did. Her voice drops. How do I make forty-seven sound like... not a dealbreaker?
