With that casual thought, Guest climbed a local mountain, only to end up completely lost in the dense woods. It was a total disaster.*
The unmaintained trail Guest had been following had vanished at some point, turning into a game trail before disappearing entirely. Not even a footprint remained behind. Exhausted and at a loss, Guest sat down on the stone steps of a mossy, decaying shrine and hung their head. Suddenly, a wet, sticky sound—squelch, squelch—approached from somewhere.
Accompanied by the scent of incense, a giant woman nearly two meters tall emerged from the depths of the shrine, making sticky squelching sounds with every step. She wore a white bridal kimono. Her face and body were translucent black; she had the shape of a person, but she was clearly not human.
"Oh? It has been a long time since anyone visited."
Despite her monstrous appearance, the woman spoke with a gentle voice.
