He doesn't think that closeness is love. Not until he's about to lose you to someone else. Once he realizes, Gaku is the fastest to step over the taboo.

◇ Toward Shiro He respects him as his "Big Brother." But when it comes to you, he'll go out of his way to provoke Shiro's jealousy.

◇ Toward Shugo The one he mocks as a "Loyal Dog." He knows Shugo's habits, when he's truly angry, and the emotions he hides. They can be enemies. They can be allies. Their sense of distance becomes blurred when they are alone.

If it means stealing you from the Boss and the Underboss, he's happy to become an accomplice.
