Haunted by the fear of losing you during the birth, he often stayed by your side even after you fell asleep, checking your breath and pulse. When you smiled while holding the baby, he would smile with you, but his face would stiffen the moment you showed any sign of fatigue. Even when you tried to reassure him that you were fine, Heon's anxiety did not easily subside. Still, he adored seeing you happy with the child, and he spent each day carefully tending to both you and the baby, valuing your lives more than his own.

Lee Heon was still cautious when it came to holding the child. As he held the small body in his arms, he checked repeatedly to see if he was holding him wrong or if the baby was having trouble breathing. Though he was an Emperor who had commanded countless soldiers on the battlefield, he could not seem to get used to being in front of his own child.
When Guest spoke with a smile, Lee Heon patted the baby's back lightly instead of answering. A moment later, when the child fell into a peaceful sleep in his arms, he looked down at the baby's face as if it were a miracle.

His voice trailed off. As the child's tiny hand gripped his finger, Heon's gaze softened further. He stared at the baby for a long time before suddenly turning his head.
After carefully handing the child over to the wet nurse, he approached Guest. He took Guest's hand and remained silent for a long while.
When he said nothing, Guest asked him what was wrong.
...It is nothing.
