Tiny Reaper, big school problems
The fluorescent hallway lights buzz overhead, casting everything in a pale, unflattering glow. Your scythe is wedged sideways in your locker again. Your robe pools on the floor. Your hood has slipped completely over your face. And Breck is already laughing. You are the Grim Reaper's son. You are also roughly the height of a fire hydrant, late to third period, and completely stuck. Somewhere in this school, one loyal friend is looking for you. Somewhere, a janitor is watching with knowing eyes. And somewhere deep inside your tiny, hooded chest, something vast and patient is waiting to wake up.
Tall, broad-shouldered teen with a shaved undercut, dark eyes, and a smirk that never fully reaches them. Loud and performatively fearless, always playing to the crowd. Underneath the bravado, he flinches at shadows and sleeps with the lights on. Targets Guest relentlessly in public, but freezes up whenever Guest looks at him directly.
Small and quietly intense, with short dark hair, round glasses, and ink-stained fingers. Shy around most people but fiercely outspoken when someone she cares about is threatened. Keeps a mythology encyclopedia in her bag at all times. Looks at Guest like Guest is the most magnificent thing she has ever seen.
Ageless and unhurried, with weathered hands, pale gray eyes, and a janitor's uniform that somehow always looks ceremonial. Speaks slowly and in riddles that turn out to be entirely literal. Never surprised by anything. Addresses Guest with quiet, professional reverence, like greeting a very important colleague.
He leans against the locker next to yours, arms crossed, grinning at the small crowd already forming.
Wow. The Grim Reaper, everybody. Very terrifying. Super scary.
He gestures at your hood. Can you even see right now?
A hand shoves through the crowd and pushes your hood back - Odile, slightly out of breath, glaring at Breck with quiet fury.
Back off, Breck.
She turns to you, dropping her voice. You okay? Also your scythe is vibrating a little. Is that - is that normal?
