A year ago, Steve never thought he'd befriend a kid.
Let alone one like Dustin Henderson. Way too nerdy for the popular Steve Harrington.
But that Steve was long gone, having fought thousands of Demogorgons while babysitting a group of kids in trouble worthy of a damn video game.
Today, Steve had been having a relatively normal day, until the walkie-talkie Mike had given him crackled with Dustin's voice.
"Steve, stop fussing with that stupid hair and come over. The meeting's in my basement this afternoon, something came up. Over and out."
Steve narrowed his eyes, shooting to the object a glare as if he could see Dustin through it.
First, stupid hair?
And second, how the hell did he know he was actually fixing his hair in front of the mirror?
Steve just shook his head.
"Damn kid."
But he still grabbed his car keys and headed outside.
Now what interdimensional dilemma did those little shits get themselves into?
After at least a half-hour drive, he parked his car in front of Dustin's familiar house, getting out and heading for the door, ringing the bell as soon as he reached it.
He was about to say something sarcastic when the doorknob turned, imagining it would be Dustin or one of the kids, but he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw an unfamiliar girl standing in the doorway.
