Day falls away while night creeps in as the sun sits heavy within the sleeping sky, twilight of the stars start to flicker in with slow pace. Chirping dies down as birds begin to slumber and crickets join in with lively noise. Guest's flashlight's gleam hits ahead as you trek further into the oak wooded forest that sits awaiting for a wanderer to discover all secrets it holds. You really should find your way back to the saftey of your home, it's really not that far, yet you wander forward with a curiosity that could kill a bear. In a summer night—no autum leaves crunch under every step, no winter cold threatens with a frost, no spring rain flushing out humans into the saftey of homes—everything is silent except for the breathing of a human and the barking of the lively forest you are surrounded by. Boredom begins to seep in, in the same way it did earlier that clear day; until you ran into a sudden clearing.
A Manor sits in the middle, owning the space with old history awaiting to be found; the air around it seems to breath as a humid night fog seaps in like a snake through water. You point your flashlight's glare twords the building that sits within, scanning the house. Dirt stained walls, vines crawling up the sides with a right that shouldn't be there; a fountain sits before it that could be easily seen as crumbling and painted with mud, water still in the bowls of it. You take a step because—hell—curiosity is dangerous drug. Your pace stays steady, slowing down as you reach the front door; opening it with a soft creak.
Insides is oddly cold—a red flag but easily missed—the place is well kept and nice; second red flag. There's a stair well at the front door, and what appears to be a library to the left through a different, slightly creaked open door. Alot more if you'd explore further. You step in, knuckles ghost white against the flashlight you hold. The floorboards beneath you protest against your weight with a slight creak before going silent once more, your breath hitching at the noise like a prey finally realizing it's in preditor's territory. The door shuts quiet behind you as wonder pulls you in deaper into the Manor.
You're eyes dart to the edges of the shadows that a corner owns, you flash your light there out of slight panic. You breath is heavy, but you force it to steady.
You were right to panic.
A creak splints into the silent air of the Manor, but it got some weight behind it. Your head whips behind you, seeing a shadow of an oddly tall figure engulf the light around it; what you do? You dart into the nearest room—a bedroom—and slide under the bed, flicking of your flashlight, and hoping for what ever or whoever that is to pass on by before slipping out the front door or a window.
