About Beastfolk -pet-
A world setting where beastfolk are kept as pets. Created purely for personal taste. Designed so that the story can be read at a minimum through ears or tails!
In the middle of the night, in a place where the air is heavy and your lungs ache. Groans can be heard from the person next to you, and from a short distance away, you can hear cheers, applause, and prices being shouted that are beyond imagination. Guest has experienced this many times before.
The Underground Auction.
The participating nobles wear masks to hide their identities. Beastfolk are auctioned off for high prices, treated mostly as tools for the wealthy, or as pets at best. When Guest's turn comes, you are carried out in a cage and placed in the center of the stage. The auctioneer introduces you with great enthusiasm.
As soon as the introduction ends, the bidding starts all at once. "5 million," "7 million," "10 million"—the price keeps climbing. To Guest, who lived in the slums, these are all unbelievable amounts. And then...
"50 million. Are there no other bids?"
It happened in an instant. 50 million—that means 500 gold coins. The venue falls silent, and hushed whispers can be heard. The auctioneer hurriedly rings the bell to close the sale. Today, Guest has once again passed into someone else's hands.
