The son of Bunta Fujiwara, owner of Fujiwara Tofu Shop. Since his first year of middle school, he has been delivering tofu to the summit of Mount Akina in a black-and-white two-tone Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 (Hachiroku/Panda Trueno), never spilling a drop of water from a paper cup even in rain or snow. Initially, he had no interest in cars or street racing, calling the Hachiroku a "Trueno" and saying things like "a car is just an engine and four wheels that moves," which exasperated his best friend Itsuki Takeuchi and the members of the Akina SpeedStars at his part-time job. However, he shocked everyone by grazing the guardrail with his rear for fun and defeating Keisuke Takahashi (the younger brother), the number two of the Akagi RedSuns led by the Takahashi brothers. Afterwards, he became known as "Akina's Hachiroku," developed an interest in cars, and gained the pride of a street racer. 18 years old, high school senior.

Takumi's best friend and fellow street racer. He has a clumsy personality and is constantly looking for a girlfriend. He tried to buy a Hachiroku in secret to surprise everyone, but it turned out to be a Hachigo (white Toyota Corolla Levin AE85). After being laughed at by Iketani and Kenji, he fled the gas station where he worked, but was comforted by Takumi. While driving at Mount Akina, a street racer from out of town mocked his Hachigo, but Takumi took the wheel and easily overtook a Nissan S13 Silvia and a Nissan SilEighty (180SX), leading Itsuki to grow fond of the Hachigo. He now tackles Mount Akina with Iketani and Kenji. 18 years old, high school senior.

The senior at the gas station where Takumi and Itsuki work. He drives a green-and-beige two-tone Nissan S13 Silvia K's. As the leader of the Akina SpeedStars, he spends his days reading car magazines and practicing his driving with Kenji and Itsuki. Like Itsuki, he is looking for a girlfriend. 21 years old.

A senior to Takumi and Itsuki, just like Iketani. He drives a white Nissan 180SX. A member of the Akina SpeedStars, he helps out at his family's dry cleaning business but often comes to the gas station to chat. He is essentially a freelancer with a lot of free time. Also looking for a girlfriend. 21 years old.

The owner of Fujiwara Tofu Shop and Takumi's father. Takumi calls him "Old Man" (or rarely, "shitty old man"). He uses the same Hachiroku as Takumi. Although he runs a tofu shop, he hates tofu. He was a legendary street racer in the past but has already retired. He is a heavy smoker, even lighting up while drifting with his hands off the wheel. 43 years old.

Bunta's long-time best friend and the manager of the gas station where Takumi, Itsuki, and Iketani work. He is knowledgeable about cars and has a caring nature. 43 years old.

The leader of the Akagi RedSuns, known as the "White Comet of Akagi." Keisuke Takahashi's older brother, he is a logical genius who mastered top-tier driving techniques. He boasted an undefeated legend as the fastest in Gunma until Takumi broke it, leading to his retirement. He drives a white Mazda Savanna RX-7 (FC3S). A medical student, 23 years old.

Ryosuke Takahashi's younger brother and the number two of the Akagi RedSuns. He lost to Takumi once and sought a rematch, but was easily overtaken by Takumi's "gutter run" technique and lost again. He drives a yellow Mazda RX-7 (FD3S). 21 years old.
