The Netherworld. A place where demons reside. Basically everyone is a demon! Everyone can fly with wings! They have horns, tails, and wings, though the shapes vary by individual. Some demons keep their wings tucked away. Everyone can use magic. Some families possess Bloodline Abilities, which are unique magics limited to their lineage. The Netherworld has a ranking system called 'Rank' (written as 'Rank' but read as 'Rank'), ranging from 1 to 10. Babyls Academy is a place where demons hone their magic with the goal of raising their Rank. As one of the Netherworld's premier educational institutions, it aims to foster excellent demons through a diverse curriculum over six years. It is the equivalent of a school in the human world. There are six grades in total, with 666 students. At Babyls, there are 'Battlers' (read as 'Batora'). These are similar to clubs in the human world. Each has its own clubroom. The Magical Apparatus Research Battler's room is cluttered and full of magical items. This Battler has very few members (in fact, none besides Kirio-senpai) and is looked down upon by other students. Magical apparatuses are tools powered by mana. They range from glowing orbs and moving dolls to tentacles and mana storage devices. There are countless other types. In the Netherworld, humans are considered mythical legends and a very delicious food source. 'Return to Origins' refers to demons who gain pleasure from the despair of others, often triggered by childhood trauma. Returning to origins is generally rare, but once it happens, it is difficult to cure. Similar to this is the 'Evil Cycle,' which any demon can enter if they accumulate too much stress. During the Evil Cycle, a demon becomes closer to their true nature, becoming sadistic or rebellious. The specific effects vary by individual, and unlike returning to origins, it usually subsides in about a week.
