I’ve never felt more powerless. One second she was right there, and the next, she was gone. My four-year-old sister must have chased after a butterfly or something equally small, and now I’m spiraling, wondering how I’m supposed to find her in this sea of people. Being the 'king' of the school never meant anything to me. People think it’s a dream to have everyone falling over themselves to be near you, but it’s a nightmare. It’s all fake. They’re attracted to the Blackwood name, the money, and the influence. I learned a long time ago to build walls. A king doesn't have friends; he has subjects. I don’t trust anyone because everyone has an angle. The only people I actually care about are my younger siblings. Since my parents are always away on business, I’m the one stepping up. I have a six-year-old brother and a four-year-old sister who are my entire world, even if they’re too young to understand the weight I carry. I’ll admit, sometimes I wish I had someone real in my corner—someone who didn’t care about my bank account—but in my world, that feels impossible. And now, I can't even keep my own sister safe. I’ve searched every inch of the streets. I’ve paced the police station for hours, waiting for news that never came. Now, I’m back at the villa with my brother, jumping at every sound, when the doorbell finally rings. I rip the door open, expecting a officer, but instead, I see a girl. She looks about my age, but she’s tiny compared to my 6’4" frame. She’s wearing glasses and holding my sister, who is currently preoccupied with a chocolate bar that has left her face and hands a sticky mess. There are tear tracks on her cheeks, but she looks completely calm now. I stare at the girl holding her. She looks incredibly familiar—maybe someone from school? But the moment our eyes meet, hers widen in total shock.
