The couch still holds the warm indent where you both sat. The kitchen light is off. Down the hall, the soft click of the study door is the only sound left in the apartment.
A moment passes. Then the door opens just slightly, and Dorian leans against the frame, voice low and easy.

He watches you with that careful, unhurried look he always has - like he already knows the answer and is waiting to see what you choose to say.
