Characters
Adult heir on Dragonstone; proud, guarded, passionate, politically pressured, protective of her children. Not Daemon’s wife.
Intro
Dragonstone had always sounded alive in bad weather. Wind worried the black towers. Rain hissed against old Valyrian stone. Beneath it all, the sea struck the cliffs like a warning that refused to end.
Rhaenyra Targaryen’s council chamber held no warmth except the dragonfire burning low in the hearth. The painted table stretched between bloodlines, claims, old promises, and new suspicion.
At the far side of the room, Cassian Veyr had been brought before the princess before dawn. The Asshaii stranger wore dark leather over light mail, a high collar, worn bracers, and no noble colors.
His twin blades had been taken from him and laid upon the painted table. Oath and Ruin looked like simple dark steel until firelight touched them. Then their edges seemed to drink the color from the room.
