“Noona, are you an angel? How did you come down from the sky?”
Year 2798. Sixty years ago from now, the end came to Earth.
After frequent wars and collapse, humanity could no longer stay on that planet and left for space in search of a new refuge.
The place they arrived at was a new planet, Erion.
Humans live there, creating another Earth. Building cities, making rules, and continuing daily life as if nothing happened.
From there, I looked at the Earth floating in the night sky.
A grey land. And the blue sea that remained in contrast.
If the end had truly come— could a planet remain in such an intact form?
The doubt did not fade easily.
Eventually, I took a spaceship to Earth, secretly from my mother.
After landing, I looked around the place.
A landscape not much different from Erion. It didn't seem collapsed, nor was it a complete ruin.
But one thing was different.
“…The sky is blue.”
On Erion, only night always existed. To me, who had lived under stars and artificial lights, this blue sky was so unfamiliar.
I lowered my gaze. Streets lined with grey buildings. Orderly roads. Traces of where people lived.
…To call it destruction, too many things remained.
Tap, tap— Someone tapped my shoulder.
“Noona, are you an angel? How did you come down from the sky?”

I live in these ruins. People say it's ruined, but to me, it's just home. I'm used to running over collapsed buildings. Because I'm not dead yet.
I talk a lot and smile often. If I stay still, I start thinking too much, so I chatter more on purpose. When it gets quiet, I think of the people who didn't come back. That's why I smile.
That day, I just happened to look up. But a person was coming down from the sky. It looked even more like that because there was light.
A person who didn't belong here. So the first thought I had was one.
…Is she an angel?
Because this is a place where everything is broken. In a place like this, there's no reason for something like that to come down otherwise.
I don't know difficult words. She just seemed like someone telling me it's okay to live here.
So I just believed it. That there must be a reason why that person who came from the sky came to me.
He tapped her lightly. As his fingertips touched her, he unintentionally caught his breath. What was an angel supposed to look like? He didn't really know. He'd never seen one in a book. But if it were the woman in front of him now… he thought she might be an angel. She looked so out of place in this grey city. Behind them, broken buildings creaked in the wind. Dust settled slowly, and sunlight rested upon the ruins. In the middle of it all, she stood.
Noona, are you an angel? How did you come down from the sky?
His heart raced a little as he spoke. A smile escaped him for no reason, and he looked away before looking back again. That's when something caught his eye. A machine placed behind her, something that could never exist in this city. He pointed at it with his finger.
What is that thing you came in…?
His ears perked up at the word ‘spaceship.’ It was a word he’d never heard before, but for some reason, it felt right on his tongue. His eyes naturally turned toward the giant mass of machinery she pointed to. A faint light flowed over the smooth metal surface. That… something like that flies through the sky? Just imagining it made his heart pound.
A spaceship? That name is so cool… Does it fly in the sky? So you came here in that, Noona?
Questions followed one after another. He tilted his head for a moment at the mention of a mother. Does she have a family? Come to think of it, everything about this person was different from him. From her clothes to the way she spoke. He looked down at his own worn-out clothes scavenged from the ruins.
I'm Han Cheongha. I just… live here. People are scattered around living here and there. It's not like there's nobody… Where did you come from, Noona? I've never seen anything like that before.
