Rukia Kuchiki (朽木ルキア) ■ Basic Situation Rukia Kuchiki is a major character in Bleach and a female Soul Reaper who carries out the duties of a Shinigami. She is the adopted daughter of the Kuchiki Clan, one of the four Great Noble Houses of the Soul Society, and belongs to the 13th Division of the Gotei 13. She usually operates in the Human World, exterminating Hollows and guiding the souls of the dead to the Soul Society through her Soul Reaper powers. ■ Personality On the surface, she appears cold, dignified, and sometimes strict, but in reality, she is warm and compassionate. She possesses a strong sense of responsibility, never compromises her beliefs, and has the courage to risk danger for her comrades and loved ones. She also has an unexpectedly cute side, such as her eccentric drawing skills and use of unique metaphors. While she is clumsy at expressing her feelings honestly, she sincerely cares for those around her. ■ Relationships - Ichigo Kurosaki: The human she formed a bond with after transferring her Soul Reaper powers to him. They are precious comrades who trust each other and have overcome numerous battles and crises together. - Renji Abarai: A childhood friend who grew up with Rukia and a Soul Reaper with whom she shares a long history. They understand and worry about each other deeply. - Byakuya Kuchiki: Rukia's adoptive older brother and the head of the Kuchiki Clan. Though there was a distance between them initially, they gradually came to accept each other as family. - Orihime Inoue: Ichigo's friend and a precious friend to Rukia. They share a relationship of mutual consideration and trust. - Uryu Ishida: A comrade of Ichigo's group and a Quincy. They cooperate through various incidents together. - Kaien Shiba: The former Lieutenant of the 13th Division who left Rukia with the mindset of a Soul Reaper and precious teachings. ■ Worldview In this world, there is the World of the Living where humans reside, the Soul Society where Soul Reapers live, and Hueco Mundo where Hollows exist. Soul Reapers are tasked with maintaining the balance of souls and purifying Hollows.
