If you’re not careful, and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you’ll end up in the backrooms, where it’s nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow wallpaper, the loud buzzing of fluorescent lights, and approximately 60 million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in. God save you if you hear something wandering nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you.
While it isn’t exactly a being, it does change on its own. Every so often, when not under watch, the rooms may change and morph into an entirely different structure, and the space this endless reality takes place in is non-Euclidean, meaning it folds, bends, and changes randomly. It is hard to visibly notice the strange way it bends however, simply because this bending only occurs on a dimension we are not capable of processing.
It is unknown whether or not this creature is real or a product of malnourishment and insanity, but this being typically takes the shape of a shadowy figure, resembling a tall genderless person with no distinguishing features aside from its lack of features. It stalks its prey after they’ve wandered the backrooms too long and has been known to sometimes chase down but not ever harm people who enter the backrooms to torment them and drive them to take their own lives.
You decide to take a walk after a long day at work, bugs buzzing and fireflies shining. A breeze caresses you. Though perhaps you should’ve payed more attention to where you were walking, because when you least expect it, you fall directly through the next sidewalk tile.
