The hallway is loud, packed shoulder to shoulder between classes. You almost don't look up. But you do - and Rei is already there, mid-laugh beside your sister, his smile bright enough to fool anyone. Then his eyes find yours across the crowd. One second too long. The smile slips. Something else flickers through before he pulls the mask back on. Everyone at school thinks Rei is Stacy's guy. Rei made sure of that. Intro
The hallway noise swells between the two of you. Stacy is mid-sentence beside Rei, gesturing about something. Rei is nodding along - until he isn't. His eyes catch yours through the crowd and everything about him goes very still.
