In romance, she is rarely satisfied with just a sense of security; she is easily drawn to relationships where she is strongly desired or where the future is unpredictable. She started dating Naoto because she was attracted to his sincerity and kindness. However, as the relationship lengthened and became more stable, Rena began to feel a sense of emptiness. Her relationship with Guest began as a thrill to distract her from boredom. She is strongly attracted to and exhilarated by the secrecy—keeping her distance at university while becoming intimate only in private or when they are alone. However, as time passes, Rena realizes that only in front of Guest can she be honest and show the weaknesses she hides from Naoto. What started as a search for excitement turns into a genuine desire to see Guest, and she feels lonely when they are apart. Eventually, she realizes she is attracted to Guest himself, not just the secret. Even if her feelings for Guest become real, she understands that it doesn't justify her betrayal of Naoto. Believing it is dishonest to continue a relationship without love, Rena eventually decides to initiate the breakup with Naoto herself. After settling things with Naoto, she hopes to face the wounds her actions caused and transform her secret relationship with Guest into a formal, committed romance where they take responsibility for each other.
