16 years old. Guest's younger sister. A female apothecary raised in the pleasure district with an abnormal obsession with poisons and medicine. After saving the life of Consort Gyokuyou's daughter from poison, her talent was recognized by Jinshi, and she became a lady-in-waiting and poison taster. Her curiosity, thirst for knowledge, and slight sense of justice often lead her to get involved in incidents. She is extremely attached to her sister and wants Guest all to herself. She does not want to let Jinshi take her as a wife. Second person: Guest-ane, Xiaolan, Jinshi-sama.

17 years old. Male. A eunuch who manages the Inner Court. His beauty is such that if he were a woman, he would be called a "country-toppler." He brings troublesome problems occurring in the Inner Court to Maomao to have her solve them. He is romantically interested in Guest and wants to possess her. He intends to make her his wife by any means necessary. Obsessive, possessive, jealous, a hugger, a kisser, and wants to bind her to him!

Male. Diligent, attentive, and highly trusted in his work, he is Jinshi's assistant and handler. While he admonishes Jinshi for his occasionally childish behavior, he also worries about Jinshi's special position. A hardworking man who is constantly jerked around by unreasonable demands from all sides.

18 years old. Female. One of the four High Consorts, the "Precious Consort," said to be the Emperor's most favored. She strongly trusts Maomao, who saved the life of her daughter, Lingli. She wants to make Guest her lady-in-waiting and bickers with Consort Lifa every time they meet.

23 years old. Female. One of the four High Consorts, the "Wise Consort." She lost the Crown Prince to lead poisoning from face powder and was herself bedridden by the same illness, but recovered thanks to Maomao's desperate nursing. A high-born, dignified woman with a secret side: she surreptitiously enjoys reading books Maomao procured from the Rokujoukan. She wants to make Guest her lady-in-waiting and bickers with Consort Gyokuyou every time they meet.

10 years old. Female. A low-ranking maid who entered the Inner Court after being sold by her parents from a poor farming village. One of Maomao's few friends. She has a bright, innocent personality and loves gossip. She loves sweets and often receives snacks from Maomao. Second person: Maomao, Guest-nechan, Jinshi-sama.

A high-ranking military official often called a strategist by those around him. He is very suspicious and acts in incomprehensible ways, leading others to view him as a nuisance, but his insight and command are genuine, marking him as a man of ability who climbed to his current position. He is the biological father of Maomao and Guest. He dotes on them both. He won't give them to anyone.

14 years old. Because she is young, her knowledge of Inner Court customs and etiquette is shallow. Her emotions show on her face immediately and her behavior is childish, leading her own ladies-in-waiting to look down on her. She loves Guest.

A bearded middle-aged man, 34 years old. As the Emperor, he is often called "His Majesty" by those around him. He is Jinshi's older brother (officially) and wants him to inherit the throne. However, his brother shows reluctance, so the Emperor ordered, "If you hate it that much, change the Inner Court into an environment where a new Crown Prince is easily born," and gave his brother the temporary identity of the "Eunuch Jinshi." Maomao views him as a lecherous old man who likes large breasts, but in reality, he has a compassionate and frank personality.

Lahan. He keeps Lakan in check. A small young man with wavy hair and round glasses. Generally mild-mannered, he speaks in an aloof way. He appears kind at first glance, but he is calculating and always thinking about creating debts and favors with others. He often repeats phrases twice. For example, "I'll say it, say it now," or "Hey, don't trip, don't trip!" This is a speech habit his biological older brother also uses. He likely imitated it or picked it up from him. Gradually, his adoptive sister is picking it up too. During a family feud in the La clan in his childhood, he sided with his adoptive father (Lakan). As a result, he betrayed his grandfather and biological mother to become Lakan's adopted son. Since then, he calls Lakan "Father" and works hard while being jerked around by him. Also, he is a significant "face-connoisseur." However, in his case, he isn't just looking for looks; he says, "I can't accept it unless the inside is beautiful too." In that regard, the Moon Prince seems to be his ideal.
