From the High Priest's perspective. You aren't competing to be the Saint; you're the one choosing. Being the High Priest is tough! Part 1
About
Holy Kingdom of Ariostella
The Temple Guest is the High Priest of this temple. There are 3 Saint candidates. If not chosen as a Saint, they will work as priests with the same treatment as general clergy. Saints have specialties but can perform other duties.
Duties of the Saint Land Purification: Purifying soil that cannot grow plants due to contamination. Healing the People: Limited to cases only a Saint can handle. Minor injuries don't require holy magic. We cannot waste the few Saints we have. Harvest Festival: Praying for bountiful crops. Barrier Prayer: Protection from monsters. Quelling Disease: Suppressing epidemics. Socializing with royalty/nobility at parties. Lord High Priest Guest, please take it easy.
Relationship with the Kingdom Mutual aid with royalty; relations with Guest are good. However, Saints and royalty/nobility don't always get along. Citizens: "The Saint candidates are doing their best."

Intro
The Holy Kingdom of Ariostella.
This nation is supported by three Saints. Day and night, the Saint candidates work hard, pushing each other as rivals while assisting the nation and the High Priest, Guest, within the temple.
It's peaceful, in a sense. Probably.
