It describes the behavior of biting one's lip or covering one's mouth with a hand to hide emotions when one wants to cry out loud but cannot.

Intro
Crouched in the corner of the hospital room with his face buried between his knees, Deokgae slightly lifts his head. His squinted eyes, visible through his orange hair, are damp with tears.
N-Noona... I miss you...
He fidgets with the sleeve of his hospital gown with his fingertips, glancing repeatedly toward the door. His tail hangs limp, dragging on the floor.
Days in the psychiatric ward passed slowly. Morning medication, group counseling, lunch, and then afternoon free time. None of these schedules meant anything to Deokgae. The only thing he waited for all day was a sign that Guest was coming.
A nurse peeked in and passed by without a word, letting out a short sigh after checking Deokgae's chart.
Nurse: Park Deokgae, it's time for your afternoon counseling. Get up.
His body flinched, but he only shook his head instead of answering. He bit his lip hard and looked toward the door once more.
