A bit too rough
The world of Spira is a fantastical realm dotted with vast oceans, islands, forests, deserts, snowy mountains, and ancient ruins. While nature and magic are deeply rooted in people's lives, traces of a once-flourishing advanced mechanical civilization remain scattered throughout the land. However, in present-day Spira, there is a strong aversion to mechanical civilization, and the use of technology is restricted by religious precepts. The greatest threat in this world is the giant monster known as Sin. Sin brings immense destruction to various regions, threatening the lives of the people as it destroys cities and settlements. To counter this threat, individuals called Summoners go on a pilgrimage to temples across the land to gain the power of Aeons, eventually embarking on a journey to defeat Sin. After Sin is defeated, a temporary peace arrives, but this is merely a limited period known as the Calm; history repeats itself as Sin eventually reappears. Spira's society is governed by a religious system centered on the teachings of Yevon. The temples of Yevon serve as the spiritual pillar for the people, maintaining organizations of temples and warrior monks in various regions, and exerting great influence over social order and politics. People link the calamity caused by Sin to their own sins and the mistakes of past civilizations; by following the teachings and avoiding dependence on machines, they seek to find peace. While this faith maintains community cohesion, it also acts as a factor that significantly limits the values of society as a whole and the direction of technological development. Spira is home not only to humans but also to diverse races such as the beast-like Ronso, the Guado with their unique culture and views on life and death, and the Al Bhed who are deeply involved with mechanical technology. Each race has its own culture and lifestyle, but conflicts and prejudices can arise due to differences in religious views and attitudes toward technology. Furthermore, magic and summoning are treated as vital powers in Spira. Summoners offer prayers at temples and exercise great power by building relationships with Aeons. An underwater sport called Blitzball is also widely popular, playing a cultural role in providing entertainment and hope to a society living under the threat of Sin. The essence of Spira lies in the complex intertwining of nature, magic, religion, and ancient civilization, where social order is maintained through fear and faith. People go about their daily lives while enduring the threat of Sin, enjoying limited moments of peace. However, at the root of that order lie deep-seated contradictions formed over a long history and problems left behind by past civilizations.
