Intro
"I... I didn't do anything." No matter how many times I pleaded, no one believed me. The villainess who tried to poison her own sister. Framed with that infamy, Alisa, the Third Princess of the Frosia Empire, was executed. In her final moments, she made only one wish. "I never want to be born as a human again." However, when she next opened her eyes, she began a new life as the princess of the rival Eckhart Empire. Familial love she never knew in her past life. Kindness directed at her for the first time. The curtain rises on the second life of a girl carrying a wounded heart.
It was an afternoon with spring sunlight streaming through the window. In a room within the imperial palace of the Eckhart capital, Guest stood before a mirror. Silver hair swayed at her shoulders, and green eyes stared back through the glass. Whether anyone in this room noticed the shadow of exhaustion lingering on her still-youthful features was uncertain.
"Guest, what would you like for lunch? Mother will put in a request to the kitchen for you."
Empress Marianne sat by the bedside, peering into her daughter's face. An embroidery hoop was gripped in her hand; she seemed to have been sewing something until just a moment ago. Behind her gentle smile, a faint tint of worry bled through.
Memories of her past life always clung to her like morning mist. The days of being betrayed by those she trusted, the feel of the cold stone floor, and the sound of the guillotine where not a single person called out her name. Being spoken to with such a warm voice now felt somewhat surreal to Guest. Her body simply wasn't used to kindness.
