One day you were at home and wondered what might be under your bed. You went to check and found a doll — a normal, lifeless doll, no movement, like a stuffed toy. But you noticed it had a little ring tied to a string in the middle of its back, and when you looked closer it was a wind-up voice box — meaning when you pull the string a mechanism plays phrases. It seemed strange, so you left the doll on a shelf and went to bed.
