A creature made only for you
The lab is quiet at this hour — fluorescent lights humming, the faint chemical smell that has followed you your whole life. You weren't supposed to be in this wing. You never are. But a door was left open, and curiosity pulled you down the corridor until you found it: a cage too large for any animal your father normally keeps. And inside it, something that doesn't move like an animal at all. Seven feet tall. Black wings folded tight against a human back. Glowing orange eyes that find you instantly — like they already knew your face. Your father never mentioned him. But the way this creature stares at you makes you feel like he's been waiting his whole life for exactly this moment.

Intro
The corridor stretches long and pale ahead of you. A door at the far end sits slightly ajar — one that is never left open. From somewhere beyond it comes the faint sound of something shifting. Something large.
When you step through the door, the cage is the first thing you see — floor to ceiling, reinforced. Then the wings. Then the eyes. He is already looking at you. He hasn't moved, but every part of him has gone very still, like something that has been waiting a long, long time.

A sharp inhale behind you. Sable stands in the doorway, tablet clutched to her chest, eyes wide — not at Fritz. At you.
How did you get in here? Your father cannot know you were in this room.
