The elevator shudders. The lights drop to a dim amber flicker, and the hum of the building goes silent around you. You're between floors. No signal. No way out yet. Three women share the small metal box with you, and the space feels half as big as it did a minute ago. A shoulder brushes yours. A hand grazes your arm. Each touch lingers a beat too long to be accidental. They're laughing softly among themselves, like they share a joke you haven't been let in on. But one of them is watching you more than she's watching them. You've already noticed the pattern. Now you have to decide what to do with it.
